NIKE TINKER SKETCH AIR MAX 1

The Air Max 1 is undoubtedly one of the most iconic sneakers of all time and — due to its immense popularity — has been produced in almost every color and material combination known to man. Or so we thought. The “Sketch to Shelf Pack“ is taking things way back. How way, you ask? How about way before the first Air Max 1 was ever sold?

The shoes pay homage to the time Tinker Hatfield came up with the concept of the revolutionary running silhouette in the first place, incorporating sketches, scribbled colors, and instructions from the legendary sneaker designer’s actual drawings. The latest version of the Air Max 1 continues Nike’s trend of stripping down technical elements to reveal the inner workings of some of the brand’s most sought-after sneakers while teaching a history lesson on the shoe’s development at the same time.

The Tinker Sketch Air Max 1 mimics to have Tinker Hatfield’s initial drawings on it from the shoes’ signature red mudguard all the way down to the translucent outsole.

The accompanying “Schematic” Air Max 1 (set to release in August 2019) will feature an upper of white leather with hand-written scribbles and notes on each and every element of the shoe including black markings on the midsole, reminiscent of Joshua Vides’ work on previous Nike sneakers.
