Just Don was founded by Don Crawly, known professionally as Don C. The Illinois native was born in Chicago, which is closely intertwined with his work. Talking of ‘Chicago’: Crawly is best friends with another famous son of the city – Kanye West – and for some not-that-unimportant time, he worked as the rapper’s manager and executive producer at West’s G.O.O.D. Music record label. In 2011, Don C. fully dedicated himself to fashion and to his own streetwear label: Just Don.
Influenced by sportswear, hip hop and rap, the brand’s main driving force was an effort to create sports clothes with added value. Just Don began as a cut-and-sew brand that mainly developed hats made of premium materials. The growing popularity of his collections eventually led to an expansion in clothing and to various collaborations with sporting goods powerhouses such as Nike, Jordan Brand or Converse. Don C’s remake of the Air Jordan II silhouette, titled ‘Beach’, in 2015 is undoubtedly one of the brand’s biggest hits.
As a matter of fact, most of Just Don’s sneakers strongly remind of basketball shoes of the late 80s and early 90s. Handmade in Italy from premium leather, models like the Just Don Courtside Tennis MID JD2 or BSKTBL JD1 are called somehow the Ferrari of the sneaker world – and not just figuratively, the shoes feature several details that are directly inspired by the Ferrari 512 Testarossa, Michael Jordan’s prized vehicles.
