Footwear

They don’t do advertising, they don’t use sweatshops and they don’t trade on their morals: meet Veja. Since 2005, the French Company has been creating sneakers in a different way, combining social projects, economic justice, and ecological materials.

To understand the production process of sneakers, Veja’s founders Sébastian Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion first started their label with a journey. While traveling, their label’s name was born: ‘Veja’ is the literal translation of the word ‘Take a closer look!‘ in Portuguese-Brazilian language. And this is exactly what the fair trade label does: Ethical sourcing, transparency and social responsibility are of the utmost importance for Veja. To achieve this, Veja works closely with small producers in Brazil under fair trade practices endeavoring to support local communities while using upcycled and sustainably-produced materials such as organic cotton and wild rubber.

With retro-inspired designs and minimalistic low-cut models such as the V-10 and V-12, sneakers by Veja are indispensable on the streets these days. The cherry on top is that the brand also offers their sneakers in an alternative vegan line by using C.W.L. (corn waste laminate) material for an additional environmentally conscious approach.
