3 WAYS TO STYLE THE AIR JORDAN I

The Air Jordan I is a classic. And it looks damn good – but only if worn the proper way. Here's three ways how to style your Air Jordan Is: Check out our style guide at BSTN Chronicles now!

“Is the Air Jordan I the best Jordan sneaker ever?” Just drop that question in a round of sneakerheads, grab your popcorn and enjoy the scenario: We guarantee you a heated discussion. We can probably all agree on this though: The Air Jordan I is a definite fan favorite. And it looks damn good – but only if worn the proper way.

To give you some inspiration for how to style your Air Jordan Is in ways you might or might-not-have thought of before, here’s three outfits in celebration of the classic silhouette (including an important note about what not to wear with any Air Jordan I High).

1. The Preppy Look

To match the preppy blue of a Air Jordan I like the ‘Mystic Navy’, an elevated city look never fails. To dress up, just opt for a cable vest and classic knitwear – preferably in toned down colors to keep the look balanced. Harmonize the cable vest with a simple white t-shirt, white socks and fresh-but-subtle waffle pants in navy blue.

To spice things up a bit, accessorizing is always a good idea – but it‘s recommended to keep it to a minimum. A matching bandana and earrings, for example, perfectly balance the preppy look with streetwear.

2. The Less-Is-More Look

The black, white and grey colorway of the brand new ‘Bleached Coral’ is as classic as it gets. And it’s versatile: The pair goes well with loud colors, but can draw just as much attention just by itself. To compliment that, the timeless combo of light blue jeans and a plain black tee is almost unbeatable – their muted colors perfectly highlight the Air Jordan 1 High. And even though less is more here, the pant‘s bootcut and the oversized fit of the tee still give the look a nice spin.

PS: We’re probably not telling you anything new here, but high top sneakers look great with plain white or black socks. For the logo lovers out there, a Jordan or Nike logo will do as well. The absolute no-go for Air Jordan 1 Highs though? Wearing socks with any other brand’s name or logo (and no-show socks as well).

3. The Power Look

A powerful way to style Air Jordan 1s is to keep things sporty (but not): This outfit centers around the shoe’s loud ‘University Blue’ colors and echoes them throughout. While retro Oakley shades emphasize the shoe’s roots in sports, the cozy knit sweater keeps things fresh by breaking up the sporty look. Pair this look with black or toned down pants to give the flashy blue parts enough space to shine.
