Yesterday evening, BSTN and New Balance teamed up with Munich’s Cleo collective and their ‘Yalla Tawla’ series for an intimate gathering in celebration of this year’s Grey Days – the annual month-long tribute to New Balance’s iconic signature color and the culture surrounding it. Bringing together friends and family from the extended BSTN community, the evening centered around connection, conversation, and community – all through the game of backgammon, or ‘Tawla’ in Arabic.
High above the city at the rooftop bar of Anagram Hotel, right in the heart of Munich, guests came together over custom BSTN x New Balance backgammon boards created exclusively for the occasion, surrounded by the four special Grey Days pairs on display. From the boards themselves to custom Çay cups shared across the tables, subtle Grey Days touches carried through the entire setting.
Rooted in the spirit of Yalla Tawla, the evening naturally brought together seasoned players and first-timers alike, with coaches on site guiding newcomers through the rules of the game.
While some guests locked into focused matches across the boards, others gathered around the DJ sets from Chadee and Majit, creating a seamless mix of gameplay, music, and conversation that carried through the entire evening. Freshly prepared cheese sandwiches and snacks, courtesy of Anagram, alongside plenty of Çay – brewed with tea from Munich Viktualienmarkt’s very own Teeschale shop – kept the rooftop buzzing well into the night.
