The ongoing collaboration between Song for the Mute and adidas Originals, currently in its sixth chapter, aims to break familiar expectations by reworking heritage through quiet rebellion. The latest drop includes two footwear silhouettes (available in three colorways each) that reflect a broader shift — from spectacle to precision. Opting for a quite yet deliberate approach, they feature slimmer forms that anchor rather than announce each respective design.
The Taekwondo Mei exemplifies this restraint and reinterpretation, keeping the silhouette intact while shifting its construction to a gathered, elasticated collar and laced closure on a brushed suede upper.
Meanwhile, the Adizero is a model from the archive that’s stripped of any bulk and kept close to the ground. It adds metal studs, antiqued rubber and mismatched laces for an odd yet familiar feel.
The accompanying apparel continues this spirit of distortion and reconstruction on velvet track jackets, oversized gabardine overshirts, washed-out tartan pleated trousers, and reworked track pants that offer a skewed take on sporting tradition.
The adidas x Song for the Mute collection releases at BSTN on Friday, October 10th. Pick up your favorite pieces from the collaborative drop via the button below!
