In their own words, they talk about themselves, their career, and selected topics close to their heart. This is Feed Fam. As part of our 10th Anniversary, episode XIX is featuring our very own Roberto Aufiero, Co-Founder and CEO of BSTN.

On his love for the game:

I fell in love with basketball at an early age – not just the sport itself but the lifestyle that surrounds it, too. The game is connected to so many things beyond the court, from fashion to music, that are all contributing to the overall basketball culture.

On working in hoops:

I’ve played organized ball in many different ways. Back in the days, I was part of a streetball team that took home several national championships. On the hardwood, I played for an NCAA team when I went to college in the United States and later played professionally in Germany.

At BSTN, basketball is a core component of our company’s DNA and we’re living and working within that comprehensive culture that surrounds the game every day.

On connecting the dots:

Many people that I’ve met through those different elements of the game and basketball culture in general have been a part of my life to this day. Both in business as well as in my private life, these connections have grown over the course of years and even decades.

On starting BSTN:

A little over ten years ago, the foundation of the BSTN store in Munich was the realization of our vision of a sneaker and sportwear retailer within the premium segment.

Over the years, we’ve constantly added to that vision by opening stores in Hamburg as well as in London and by continuously growing and upgrading our online presence, turning BSTN into one of the strongest retailers in the world and a go-to destination for our ever-growing community.

On a day-one rule:

From the very beginning, it was important to me that everything at our company happens in-house. That was a huge priority for me from day one.

This way of working together – both within our team as well as with our long-term partners in the industry – not just ensures that we maintain full control in terms of content and quality but also allows us to maximize our creative freedom.
