In a cleverly executed release of a retro that’s technically not a retro, except that is it kind of is, Nike and Hiroshi Fujiwara team up once again for a contemporary take on the highly sought-after Fragment Dunk High. The 2021 version allows fans of the project, new and old, a chance at the iconic design while preserving uniqueness of the original trio.
Inspired by key global sneaker destinations in London, New York, and Beijing, fragment design’s City Pack Dunk Highs very immensely popular when they released in 2010. The 2021 release mimics the color scheme but switches from an asymmetrical color blocking (between the two shoes of every pair) to a symmetrical one while still adding several fragment design logos and details throughout the shoe.
Kicking things off is the Beijing color way that features black and dark burgundy elements alternating on the upper that sits above a crisp white midsole and black outsole. The iconic fragment design logo can be found on the lateral part of the heel with the shoe’s development style number printed on the midsole.
