INTRODUCING: SUPERPLASTIC

By effortlessly blending street art, pop culture and fashion, the designer toys by Superplastic have taken the world by storm: Founded in 2018 by Paul Budnitz, well-known for masterminding Kidrobot before, the brand has long established a reputation for loud and artfully irreverent designs that stand out boldly in the world of collectible art (and beyond).

Two characters, which spearhead the world of Superplastic collectibles, are popular synthetic celebrities Guggimon and Janky, thanks to a strong presence on social media: Not only do their violently humorous videos make Itchy & Scratchy appear like innocent choirboys. They also have collaborated with everyone from luxury brands to Vince Staples – and their own animated show is already on the way, backed by a $20 million investment round.

Aside from not playing around (pun intended) with their careful collaborative choices, like with Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz recently, Superplastic is also known for the premium quality of their collectibles: From intricate designs to high-quality materials used in their production, Superplastic toys are not only visually stunning but also durable and long-lasting. That’s if you’re lucky enough to get one: Saying that Superplastic figurines are flying off the shelves is an understatement.
