For some of us – many of us, in fact – basketball has become its own way of living in both, a literal and metaphorical sense. Regardless of how hectic our everyday lives may become, the game of basketball and its values can act as a great equalizer. When a game is about to start, the ball in the air ready to be tipped, knees bent in anticipation, the collective mind will find a singular focus.
We may have taken different paths, but we all wind up at the same court. At the end of the day, ball is what binds us all. And the Quai 54 streetball tournament – and the influence it has had on the community – has always been the perfect example of that.
With the streetball event of the summer having just wrapped up among the shades of the Eiffel Tower, Jordan Brand is getting ready to release its annual collection dedicated to the legendary Quai 54 tournament in Paris. While the apparel collection has already made its debut, a loaded lineup of footwear silhouettes is in the on-deck circle and ready to step up to the plate.
Both, the Air Jordan I and the Air Jordan VII, the two retro signature shoes included in this year’s release, continue the fusion of African inspiration, African-American style and authentic Parisian culture introduced by the apparel collection. Both sneakers feature the same authentic traditional West African dying process and graphic patterns to create the eye-catching blue elements that are the signature characteristics of the 2022 lineup.
