While the latest iteration of the New Balance 990 – the v6 – has been introduced fairly recently, Action Bronson has already made a significant impact on the silhouette with two head-turning collaborations. The latest one – dubbed ‘Lapis Lazuli’ – is a toned-down follow up to a louder, neon-based interpretation of the running classic.
Non-MC-savvy members of the sneaker community might discover Lapis Lazuli as a metamorphic rock that has been known and appreciated for centuries for its intense deep-blue color. On AB’s latest take on the 990v6, the color (found most prominently on the rear part of the midsole) is paired with neutrals colors ranging from a dark navy base to cobalt-shaded overlays and denim-colored eyestays.
