Originally released in 1999 and brought back last year, the New Balance 1000 now gets a fresh reinterpretation by Salehe Bembury. Dubbed ‘Fog Be The Cloud’, the designer applies his signature, nature-inspired approach to the turn-of-the-millennium silhouette for a head-turning pair:
Drawing inspiration from Tennessee’s and North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains, the upper combines leather overlays, hairy suede, and spacer mesh to mirror the region’s rich langscapes. A bold, enlarged N logo with a frosted fog finish continues the theme. So do blue and coral pink hues nodding to the mountain ridges and sunsets, respectively, while an ABZORB midsole delivers cushioning, sitting atop a semi-transparent rubber outsole.
