Judging by our history of utilizing private jets, rodeo rumbles and custom-built motorcycles, it’s safe to say that ‘go hard or go home’ is the only way we at BSTN conduct business on release days. And for the shoe worn during what’s arguably Michael Jordan’s most significant championship (won on fathers’ day, after all), we’re going all-in all over again!
The iconic Air Jordan XI is inextricably linked with the continuous and relentless pursuit of excellence. To commemorate the 2019 retro release as well as the Bred’s historical significance during the 1995/96 season, BSTN has partnered with porcelain manufactory extraordinaire Nymphenburg to create the artistic equivalent of a 72 win season: Something the world has never seen before.
Together, the two Munich-based powerhouses have created the ‘Bred XI‘ series, three prestigious collector sets depicting how painstaking attention to detail can ultimately result in the creation of masterpieces. Each one-of-a-kind set includes a lavishly decorated vase, a customized replica of the Bulls’ 1996 championship ring, and a hand-painted collectors’ plate — priceless one-offs unobtainable anywhere else. Following Nymphenburg’s century-long tradition, each individual piece is all hand-made, all the way through.
Secret formulas and the refined techniques that have been preserved and passed on from generation to generation result in a uniquely hard as well as translucent porcelain and vibrant colors. Decades of dedication and continuous advancement of their craft provides the artists at Nymphenburg with the invaluable knowledge of how the hand-painted portraits and ornamentations will change during the multiple firings to create optimal results.
Not unlike Chicago’s historic season culminating in the Bulls hoisting their fourth championship trophy after game 6 of the Finals against Seattle, creating these first-class porcelain artworks is not only a continuous grind but also the ultimate team effort. As a true sign of premier craftsmanship, every item is tagged with the Nymphenburg seal as well as the artists’ initials.
The BSTN ‘Bred XI‘ by Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg — Meticulously made to commemorate a true classic.
