Three words are currently keeping Jordan aficionados and basketball fans across the world on the edge of their seats: The Last Dance, the title of a 10-part documentary series by ESPN and Netflix, premiering on April 19th (in the US / April 20th in Europe).

With an unparalleled deep-dive into the ESPN archives and previously unseen footage from an all-access camera crew during the Bulls’ third consecutive championship run (6th overall), The Last Dance could very well be one of the most extensive and game-changing sports documentaries in recent memory.

The ten-part behemoth of a documentary is directed by Jason Hehir, the gifted creator of renowned titles like the Fab Five 30for30 and Andre the Giant. For The Last Dance, Hehir combines archival footage from an NBA Entertainment film crew with unprecedented behind the scenes access to the Chicago Bulls throughout the 1997-98 season with present-day interviews with all of the superstars you’d expect (including Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Jackson) and several you would not (like Barack Obama).

Not only does the docu-series promise a new level of depth on one of the most iconic basketball teams of all time, but it will possibly alter the way you look at Michael Jordan. The G.O.A.T. even said so himself.

With lead characters as dramatic as Dennis Rodman and Phil Jackson, hollywood-esque villains like Jerry Krause, an abundance of conflict and rumors surrounding Scottie Pippen and — reigning above it all — the most well-known, most popular, and most competitively driven athlete of the era, The Last Dance is must-see television!

Appointment viewing starts April 19th on Netflix (graciously moved up from early June by the producers as a reaction to the current corona pandemic) and continues with two new episodes every Sunday night thru May 17th. (Every Monday from April 20th to May 18th in Europe, respectively.)
