WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS

Nardo Wick and friends famously asked before who wants smoke with them, and while we don’t, there’s definitely some guys that instantaneously come to our minds when we talk ‘smoke’ in the sense of ‘lighting something up’ – and pretty often, one story is more bizarre than the other.

Here’s five hand-picked smoke stories that gave the BSTN crew the best laughs and even more ‘no, he didn’t’, including anecdotes featuring Kodak Black (and Donald Trump), Allen Iverson, Biggie, Snoop Dogg and others:

When Allen Iverson Spaced Out with Biggie and Janet Jackson

The Answer found himself in a rather questionable situation in 1996 when he met up with his hero Biggie in the studio and literally spaced out: After a few hash blunts, as Iverson told The Players’ Tribune, he went to the bathroom high. That‘s when he noticed the t-shirt he wore:

Remember that Janet Jackson shirt? That had Janet Jackson’s face on it, and it had the man. It was from the cover of a magazine. (…) Well, I had that on a shirt. Man, I’m looking in the mirror (…), and I notice that the shirt did not have her face. It had an alien face on her body. That’s how the shirt was made. I’m looking at the mirror, and I’m trippin. I’m thinking that it’s supposed to be her, but it’s an alien cartoon character.

Still badly tripping, the 76ers guard tried to wipe off the graphic from his shirt, eventually got lost in the studio building and then started to smash his Timberland boots into the ground because ‘I couldn’t feel my fuckin‘ feet’. Wild guess: He didn’t attend practice the day after.

Ashes to ashes: Tupac and The Outlawz

When Tupac Shakur rapped ‘We die clutchin‘ glasses, filled with liquor bomblastic, cremated, last wish is n*ggas, smoke my ashes’, he apparently was serious – at least according to the late legend’s crew The Outlawz.

Years after Tupac’s untimely death, Outlawz member E.D.I. Mean revealed that he and the rest of the crew literally smoked Tupac’s ashes (!) after the funeral. When people were, let’s say, surprised to hear that, he explained that Tupac tought the crew about the ritual from Native American culture and that they had his blessings. His mother Afeni Shakur still wasn’t amused, unsurprisingly, but didn’t take legal action.

Kodak Black, Trump and a Chain Reaction

Never one to not speak his mind, even Kodak Black appeared rather speechless when his jeweler presented him with a custom chain pendant. That’s not too surprising, given that it was a 10K pendant of Donald Trump (who had commuted the rapper’s jail sentence on his last day as POTUS), wearing a MAGA hat and – because why not – smoking a blunt. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all.

Damon Stoudamire’s Three-Peat with Police

The 1996 NBA Rookie of the Year apparently had a thing for smoking weed, but obviously wasn’t the best at hiding it: He was arrested for posession of the illegal substance by police not one time, not two times, but three times in 2002 and 2003 alone. And each time was more stupid risky than the last:

In 2002, cops responded to a burglar alarm in the Portland Trailblazers point guard’s home and found a little bag of weed laying around that Stoudamire apparently didn’t think of as risky. A judge later declared the search illegal though and cleared Mighty Mouse though.

Later that year, Rasheed Wallace and Stoudamire were passengers in a car that got pulled over for speeding. Guess what? Cops found pot in the vehicle, because, who would think of hiding it (or of not smoking and speeding in the first place). His third arrest happened when he tried to sneak some weed through an airport metal detector, with the weed wrapped in aluminum foil. Because, what could possibly go wrong with weed at an airport?

Snoop Dogg in the White House

When hip hop’s most famous stoner meets Jimmy Kimmel, you can expect a good story: When asked by Kimmel in an episode of Snoop’s own YouTube show whether the long beach rapper ever smoked inside the presidential residence, because who never wondered about that, Snoop answered: ‘In the bathroom. Not in the White House – but in the bathroom’.

Snoop‘s statement was followed by a story about how the ‘CIA or the FBI’ asked him if he had to do ‘number one or number two’. Snoop told them the latter and that he’d have to smoke a cigarette after for the right ‘aroma‘. When the FBI or CIA agents told him to light a napkin, that’s what Snoop did – only the napkin was a blunt. After watching the hilarious interview, it’s still not clear if all of this happened in the White House (or, at all), but it definitely serves as a good research object on the connection of weed and long-time memory loss.

In case you’re in the mood for a little smoke now, but the healthy and stylish way, we (pun intended) highly recommend to check out the ‘Cali’ Burner and ‘Brooklyn’ Burner: The two burners in the shape of Tupac and Biggie, crafted by Johnny Hoxton in collaboration with Ryan Callanan, are exclusively available at BSTN right now.
