BOOK CLUB: TRAVEL WITH ASSOULINE

The BSTN ‘Book Club‘ is a series of in-depth book reviews about hand-picked publications from the ever-growing portfolio of books available at BSTN. Like dropping a cup of yogurt on the floor, this series is going all over the place, tackling a variety of topics from sports and traveling to collectibles and sneaker/fashion culture. Curating personal favorites of various BSTN Fam member as well as in-depth stories and stunning photography, the Book Club strives to deliver new favorites for your coffee-table as well as your book shelf.

You know what they say: Don’t judge a book by its cover. But we guess you can make an exception for the whole of Assouline’s ‘Travel Series’, whose thick book covers (and impressive weight) reveal the series’ high-quality approach right away. Spoiler alert: The latter is palpable on every single page of the volominous tomes too, which basically burst over with first-hand inspiration for notorious dream destinations and travel destinations still under the radar.

Known for the artistic value of their books ever since 1994, when husband-and-wife team Prosper and Martine Assouline first published a book to commemorate their favorite hotel in France (and receiving rave reviews consequently), Assouline always kept this dedication: The ‘Travel Series’ luxury books beautifully master capturing the essence of cultures and regions, not only by authentic storytelling but also through artistic imagery and illustrations on well over 280 to 300 pages each.

What makes the books particularly authentic is the careful curation of authors and photographers of each volume, who all either stem from their respective book’s destination or do and did live there for a significant time. So no matter if your read takes on a captivating journey in the form of a traditional sailboat around Mykonos or weaves tales of Marrakech awakening all senses through zellige tileworks, rich spices and inspiring Yves Saint Laurent:

Expect Assouline’s travel books to give you instant inspiration and to spark conversations with your guests, given the high possibility that the aesthetic coffee table books most likely will catch their eyes – but don’t blame us if they travel to your next travel destination before you can.
