Not unlike a certain Cypress Hill tune, this one’s all about the membrane. Nike is tapping into the technological treasure trove of GORE-TEX for two winterized versions of the Air Force 1. The two utility-driven sneakers release as part of the Swoosh’s ‘The 10th‘ lineup and boast technical details and heavy-duty rubber outsoles.
Full-grain leather covers the GORE-TEX lining, that makes the shoe wind- and waterproof while remaining breathable. In addition, the high-top version features a zippered bootie that enshrouds the upper, made adjustable by a heel pull tab. By contrast, the lowtop’s traditional tongue has additional GORE-TEX branding, which is also featured prominently as a heel embroidery on both versions of the AF1.
In total, five versions of the Nike Air Force 1 equipped with GORE-TEX’ proprietary membranes — two colorways of the eye-catching hightops and three versions of the toned-down lowtops — will be available from the BSTN online shop starting Friday, November 1st.
