NIKE AIR MAX 1 OG ‘BIG BUBBLE’

Not that Air Max Day isn’t a reason to celebrate for Nike heads already, but this year’s celebration of all things Air Max features a long-awaited comeback that has been in the making for almost four decades: The legendary Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Big Bubble” is finally back.

The model comes in the original build from 1986 when the silhouette was first produced with a big Air unit which silently got replaced with a smaller one afterwards, due to the designers’ worries back then about the longevity of the bigger visible bubble. Spoiler alert: The 2023 version’s bigger and longer bubble leaves all of this in the past, thanks to advanced modern materials and years of research:

The signature long Air unit is accompanied by the pair’s OG colorway: The suede mudguard and the Swoosh are clad in classic University Red, while the overlays and heel come dressed in Neutral Grey. A crispy white mesh base and midsole, sitting atop a black-and-white outsole, round out the pair that comes with a special box in an artificially aged look for additional retro vibes.

The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Big Bubble” releases at BSTN on Sunday, March 26th, in Men’s and WMNS sizes. For your chance to purchase a Men’s pair, make sure to enter the BSTN Raffle before Saturday, March 25th, at 3 pm CET via the button below!
