At the recent Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week, the runway might have been secondary for streetwear aficionados: Throughout the event, Pharrell Williams and Nigo unveiled an extraordinary auction featuring personal items from their extensive collections of fashion and beyond – a rare glimpse into the evolution of streetwear from the 90s to the present.
Fittingly titled ‘Nigo Knows’ and ‘Pharrell Knows Too’, the auction features gems ranging from Chanel tennis rackets and pop culture memorabilia – like Pharrell’s oversized Vivienne Westwood hat off of 2014 Grammys fame – to Billionaire Boys Club items. And while these objects may have seemed to come from completely different worlds only 30 years ago, they all chronicle the journey of streetwear, whose fusion frequent collaborators Williams and Nigo both significantly influenced as well. From Nigo’s A Bathing Ape to their early collaborations on the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream labels to their recent roles at Louis Vuitton and Kenzo.
With some of these pieces on display loaned from private collectors and borrowed from the Louis Vuitton archives, the upcoming auction not only highlights the personal style evolution of Skateboard P and Nigo but also reflects broader trends and shifts within the industry: from graphic tees and sportswear to luxury items, the blending of the two, to vintage hunting and everything in between.
And do you remember when metallic gold fitted hats were a thing? This was only back in 2014, but compared to today’s aesthetics, it feels like ages ago – good thing it’s being immortalized through this auction time travel. And even though the bidding, which will take place through Pharrell’s digital auction platform Joopiter, will probably be out of reach for most of us, just seeing it is a treat and encapsulates a moment in time: the fusion of music, fashion, and art that defined the culture (and still does).
The auction pieces are on display online at Joopiter. Here’s a sneak peek:
